Lord Strell’s Blazing Reviews Present’s – Etherium

Take a Friday off work, you’re going to need the weekend for this one  Real Time Strategy (RTS), we meet again old friend. Born anew into the latest addition to the genre. Etherium is an interesting RTS that starkly reminds me of one very ill received console RTS, Halo Wars. While the depth is quite incredible for the game, there are numerous draws and inspirations that I have been able to recall from many RTS games of past, such as Star Wars Empire at War’s Galactic Conquest map. Many times when gamers look at an RTS, there is one question that reaches the forefront of their minds; How fast paced is it? The RTS genre has always been plagued with a series of games that are notoriously volatile in the differences in game speeds. Many gamers adjust to slower paced RTS games, such as Warcraft 3, to bleeding edge speeds ...

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.

A tl;dr Haiku Steampunk classic lit Combined with good strategy Is simply awesome.   Aliens are attacking the Earth, and it’s up to steampunk cyborgs, heroes from classical literature, and Abraham Lincoln to stop them! And if that don’t tickle you as the raddest thing ever, you can just get outta my face. Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. is a turn-based strategy game for the Nintendo 3DS developed by Intelligent Systems, and is a game that appeals directly to the exploso oblongata, the part of the brain which loves to see explosions and other cool stuff, regardless of if it makes sense. As someone with an abnormally large exploso, this game was simple put: my kinda jam. Gameplay When pet peeves are my biggest issue with gameplay, that’s a good sign. So I’ll just get my main peeves out of the way first. The enemy turns take too long. S.T.E.A.M. is a ...

Hand of Fate

A tl;dr Haiku Fate deals out a hand From the bottom of the deck. Beat him bloody for it.   Games are like life, which in turn is like a box of chocolates, which is actually kind of like a deck of cards, which is unfair and mostly chance based, but still the first thing reached for whenever boredom strikes. And if I ever lose, I just accuse the dealer, development company, or confectioner of cheating, throw my controller against a wall, and stomp off to plot my revenge. Currently, I am plotting revenge against Defiant Development for making Hand of Fate, an indie, action, RPG card game for the PC. I’m running into some issues though, as I want to punish them for making me feel foolish and inadequate without hampering their ability to make more games for me to play. I’m open to any suggestions.   Gameplay Hand ...
